About the course

Most analysts know SQL, Python, or Power BI - but still struggle when the problem is vague, the data is messy and stakeholders expect clear answers.

That’s the gap this course fills.

In this live, hands-on accelerator (limited to <20 participants), you'll work on end-to-end, real-world projects - starting from an ambiguous project email and ending with an executive-ready presentation, just like in a real job. We focus on depth over breadth, simulating the problem-solving process at top companies. What Our Students Say

Testimonials Slider

"I’m sharing this detailed review because, I believe people who put their heart into their work deserve recognition. If you're looking to elevate your data analysis skills, I highly recommend Avan's - Become a Better Data Analyst cohort—the case studies in this program are on a whole different level and can’t be compared to any of the guided projects you’ll find on YouTube. I recently had the privilege of participating in this cohort, and it was truly an exceptional learning experience. The structured case studies went beyond technical skills—they taught me how to think with a business mindset, ask the right questions to stakeholders, derive meaningful insights, and create impactful stories. Each case study encouraged teamwork and discussions, which helped me better understand problem-solving, developing hypotheses, and validating data. The dataset we worked on during the project was massive, similar to what you'd encounter in real-world scenarios. I learned how to combine multiple tables effectively to create a comprehensive master table for analysis, perform data cleaning, and write advanced SQL queries. The program also included a final presentation, which was incredibly helpful in understanding how to present analytical findings effectively. Avan went above and beyond by offering guidance on building a strong portfolio, optimizing LinkedIn profiles, and providing career advice. His class was very interactive, and his teaching style made every session so engaging and easy to follow. We never got bored for a moment!"

"I recently completed a data analyst course led by my mentor, Avan, and I am thoroughly impressed by the experience. The course was exceptionally well planned and structured, clearly reflecting Avan's thoughtfulness and dedication in its design. He has a unique ability to keep the classes engaging and ensures that every participant fully understands the material being taught. Not once did I feel bored during the sessions. One of the standout aspects of this course is its focus on real-world problems that data analysts often encounter. Unlike many other courses, this one doesn’t just emphasize analytical tools but covers the entire data analytics process. Avan taught us how to approach problems like a data analyst, break them down into manageable parts, and translate them into solvable data-driven solutions. Additionally, the course provided valuable insights on effective communication with stakeholders, an essential skill for any data professional. Throughout the course, I learned advanced techniques that I am confident will contribute to my growth as a data analyst. This course truly lives up to its name, and I am grateful for the knowledge and skills I have gained."

"I recently completed the course by Avan and was genuinely impressed by its structure and quality. The case unfolds week by week, encouraging you to dig progressively deeper into the data, which offers plenty of opportunities to sharpen your SQL skills. I’d wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to build strong analytical capabilities and gain hands-on experience with real-world data scenarios."

"Avan is one of those rare teachers who can make something as intimidating as SQL feel approachable and even fun. He’s designed the learning experience so thoughtfully that even if you come in with zero background in data or analytics, you’ll walk away with a solid foundation - not just in writing queries, but in actually applying them to real, messy business problems. What I appreciated most was how practical everything was. Instead of just teaching syntax or tools, Avan focuses on building your problem-solving muscle. You work through three real-world scenarios that mimic the kind of challenges you’d face in roles across product, growth, or analytics. It’s not about memorizing formulas. It’s about learning to ask the right questions, dig into root causes, and think critically about what the data is telling you. By the end of it, I felt far more confident using data to make decisions and explain the "why" behind what’s happening in a business. Whether you're in tech, startups, or any function that involves decision-making, I’d recommend this to anyone curious about how data can help drive real impact."

"I recommend Avan for anyone who’d like to have a tangible change in their career. I asked Avan if he could be my mentor at the most pivotal points in my career, where it was pertinent that I got the right advice - relevant advice that came from practical experience. And that’s exactly what I got from him. I’ve asked a lot of questions and there was not one instance where I didn’t have the takeaway I needed to draft my next step in whatever career challenge I had. He helped me understand what could be next step, and also went to the details of how to achieve them."

"I have completed the 'Become A Better Data Analyst' course mentored by Avan, can't thank him enough for setting up the clarity on what it takes and how it could be done. Avan is very approachable and takes additional effort to get your doubts resolved and provides post-course mentorship support. Don't think twice before signing up, the price of this course is a paltry for the value it offers. Rooting for Avan to scale this further."

Meet Your Mentor

Avan Vora

Hi, I'm Avan Vora. I'm a former Senior Analytics Manager with 10 years of experience in Analytics & Data Science across the US and India.

After earning my Masters from Georgia Tech in 2012 in the US, I began as a Data Analyst, consulted with McKinsey and eventually led analytics teams at Wayfair and BrowserStack. I spent a decade in the US and returned to India in 2021.

Over the past decade, I have worked closely with Product Managers, business leaders and non-technical teams to turn data into business decisions. In the past year, I have mentored 250+ professionals and one thing became clear: what most courses teach is far from what real-world analytics work demands. This course is my way of bridging that gap.

I find it fulfilling to help people realize their full potential and I hope to impact many more lives!

FAQs

What makes this course different from others?
This course is built on real-world experience, not just theory. Most courses focus only on technical skills, but a real analytics job requires problem-solving, technical execution, and clear communication of insights. You’ll work on advanced, real-world projects, not toy datasets. We’ll cover Cohort Analysis, Revenue Attribution, and Segmentation—techniques that are widely used in e-commerce and other industries. These are real business problems, and you’ll learn how to structure them, analyze them, and generate insights that drive decisions. Each project will focus on a key business area:
  • Growth Analytics (Revenue Decline Root Causing)
  • Marketing Analytics (Customer Segmentation)
  • Customer Experience Analytics (Customer Satisfaction)
  • Who is this course for?
This course is designed for early to mid-career professionals who want to accelerate their careers in data analytics. Most professionals who join have 1-5 years of experience, but the main requirement is a basic understanding of SQL and a desire to get better at solving data problems. Past participants have included:
  • Product Managers
  • Business Analysts
  • Data Analysts
  • Marketing Analysts
  • MBA Students
  • Freshers with SQL knowledge
  • Who is this course not for?
This course is not for absolute beginners. If you’re looking for a bootcamp that teaches tools from scratch, this is not it. Instead, we focus on using tools to solve real problems. If you’re completely new to SQL, I recommend learning the basics first before enrolling.
I'm not a Data Analyst. Can I still enroll?
Yes, as long as you have some basic SQL knowledge or can pick it up quickly. PMs and Business Analysts have found this course especially valuable, as it helps them make data-driven decisions. With AI, technical skills are less of a barrier than before - but if you’re completely new to SQL, I’d suggest learning the basics first before joining.
What are the prerequisites for this course?
  • Basic SQL (any variant is fine)
  • One visualization tool (Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio, or Excel charts)
We’ll do a 4-hour SQL revision session at the start of the course, so if you’re rusty, that’s okay! Many non-technical participants have picked it up quickly in past cohorts.
  • Which tools will we work with in the course?
  • SQL (MySQL, but any SQL variation is fine)
  • Power BI (or any visualization tool of your choice)
  • Google Sheets/Excel
  • Canva (for storytelling and presentations)
However, this course is not tool-focused - it’s about problem-solving. In real jobs, tools change, but the ability to analyze and communicate insights stays valuable.
  • I don't remember the tools I have learnt. Should I still enroll?
Yes! Many participants feel this way. We start with 4 hours of SQL revision to refresh your memory, so even if you haven’t used SQL in a while, you’ll get back up to speed quickly.
    What will I learn?
  • Break down a problem statement
  • Lead stakeholder discussions
  • Ask the right business questions
  • Translate business problems into data questions
  • Clean and process data effectively
  • Generate insights and drive decisions
  • Translating insights into recommendations
  • Present findings with storytelling techniques
  • Communicate complex ideas clearly to non-technical teams
These skills will set you apart in the workplace and make you a well-rounded analyst.
  • How will we spend our time in this course?
We will spend 30% on problem-solving, 30% on SQL, 20% on dashboards and the remaining 20% on structuring and synthesizing information to build narratives.
What will be the course's final products?
By the end, you’ll have end-to-end projects that include:
  • A problem statement and structured approach
  • SQL queries to extract insights
  • Dashboards and visualizations
  • Final presentations to showcase insights
These will be portfolio-worthy projects that can help you in job applications or career growth. You’ll also learn:
  • How to network effectively
  • How to build a strong presence in the data space
  • How to position yourself as a valuable analytics professional
  • Will this course be live?
Yes! The course is 100% live and interactive. You’ll write code alongside me, ask questions in real time, and get immediate feedback. Live learning is the best way to build confidence and skills.
Will I get recordings of the lectures?
Yes, all lectures will be recorded and you can access them for two years. I want to encourage everyone to participate live to get the most out of the course.
What is the duration of the course?
The course will run for about 8 weeks.
How much commitment is required throughout the week?
We’ll cover most of the content in live sessions, and you’ll have some exercises to work on independently (like dashboards and presentations). Roughly 10 hours a week - 4-5 hours a week for lectures and another 4-5 hours a week for practice.
    What is the refund policy?
If you’re not satisfied, you can get a 100% refund within 7 days of the course start date.
Does this course guarantee a job?
No, this is not a job guarantee program. I don’t believe in shortcuts, and no one can genuinely guarantee a job. However, if you put in the effort, I do guarantee that you’ll become a far more skilled analyst by the end of the course. I’ll also provide guidance on job hunting, networking, and positioning yourself in the industry, but ultimately, your success depends on your consistency and effort.
    Will I get a certificate?
Yes, you will receive a certificate upon completing course requirements. That said, in this industry, skills matter far more than certificates. A certificate is a nice add-on, but the real value of this course is in the skills and projects you build.

    Professional Testimonials

Avan has been an exceptional analytics leader at Wayfair. He continuously identified and addressed key opportunities to improve post-order customer experience, while effectively analyzing and driving actionable insights from the large and complex data set (e.g. survey results, contact data, order/customer data, repeat rate). In addition, he built an extremely strong analytics team from scratch, while raising the hiring bar for broader organization and offering a hands-on coaching to lead his team’s ongoing success. Furthermore, he established an exceptional partnership with various cross-functional partners as an SME in Voice of the Customer and data analytics. I have been so fortunate to have worked with and learned from such an exceptional analytics and people leader over the last 3+ years.

Youngeun Kim (Director of Product) via Linkedin

It was an absolute delight to have Avan on my team. His pod handled our trickiest analyses and consistently delivered error-free work and actionable recommendations, even adding insights that I didn't think to ask about. I could send Avan ambiguous requests and rely on him to frame them, own the analysis, and work with both technical and business partners to see the project through. He continually gets rave reviews from both direct reports and stakeholders.

Kellie McDougal (Associate Director) via Linkedin

    Strongly recommended.

If you are in a strategic role, Avan will transform you into someone who can:
    1. Craft a shared understanding with data-driven narratives
    2. Build concrete executive buy-ins and become their go-to-person
    3. Earn genuine respect with well established thought leadership
